Featuring Katja Schuurman

A resounding success!

Katja SchuurmanKatja Schuurman, €25.000 in prizes and an hysterical Boom Chicago tailored show were the highlights of a Gouden Gids private event this May. "The whole evening went great," explained Colette Lang, Coordinator of Marketing Communication for Gouden Gids. "Boom Chicago was a delight to work with."

The Event

For the grand finale of their visible consumer and B-to-B campaign with Katja Schuurman, Gouden Gids threw a branded fun night out for two hundred customers, CEO’s, management and sales representatives and radio contest winners at Boom Chicago. Katja was there herself to host the evening and add some allure.

Guests were wined, dined (and champagned) and treated to a Gouden Gids themed Boom Chicago show, and the presentation of golden copies of de Gouden Gids, worth €25.000, to two lucky winners.

"The international character of Boom Chicago appealed to us because of our native English management," continued Colette Lange. "Boom Chicago also has the facilities for a complete evening with dinner and the easygoing ambience
we wanted."

Gouden Gids EventThe Program
Katja Schuurman, the face of Gouden Gids, took the stage to greet the audience and introduce the Boom Chicago tailor-made show. The Boom actors dazzled the audience with their trademark mix of fast, hilarious improvisation and razor sharp scripted scenes.

In act one, Batman saved Gotham City after trading in his utility belt for a copy of the Gouden Gids. Later Katja was interviewed by Boom Chicago director Jon Rosenfeld. On the video screens, senior cast member Rob AndristPlourde translated the interview into fake-sign language "for the hearing impaired." The crowd loved it.

During the intermission, twenty lucky radio 538 winners had a "meet and greet" with Katja in the separate Boom Lounge. Many hand shakes, hugs, and pictures followed. Polaroid Photo Meisjes were on hand for those who forgot their cameras.

The show resumed with the Boom Chicago News. The report mixed real news about Gouden Gids with an "on-location story" about a disappointed woman whose husband gave her a gold ring instead of a Gouden Gids. In another scene, the Gouden Gids played against an internet search engine in a game show to see who could find a customer’s needs faster. Care to guess who won?

And the winner is…
For the climax of the evening, Katja Schuurman announced two winners for the €25.000 Golden Gouden Gids prize. The final bit of comedy was a grand finale of Idols with the Boom actors singing a song, as the two golden Gouden Gids winners. Thanks to the extensive costumes backstage, they also looked the parts.

While only two people went home with prize money, the night was a big win for everyone. Colette Lange: "Boom Chicago really helped us to achieve our goal which was fun, entertainment, professionalism, all Gouden Gids branded. Boom was on top of everything."
