Our fun and exciting programs allow a team to connect with each other and create the sparks that lead to new ways of thinking. Using the principals of improvisation, Boom Chicago can help unleash the creativity and create the team spirit that is needed to move forward.
When people work together, sparks fly faster and the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Collaboration drives creativity because innovation emerges from a series of moments, rarely a single flash of insight. There are key characteristics of effective creative teams. Boom Chicago’s improvisation training allows you to experience what it is like to build on each other’s ideas.
o Great ideas emerge over time. Only after applying, adapting and changing that idea does the lessons or strategy appear. No single actor comes up with the big picture or the whole plot. People really do have to work together for maximum effect.
o Successful teams practice deep listening. Trained improv actors listen for new ideas while they come up with their own thoughts. Many people spend too much time planning their own actions and not enough time listening and observing others. The basic improvisation principle of Yes and creates an environment where all ideas are given a hearing and are supported.
o Creativity is inefficient and includes failure. In improvisation, actors have no time to evaluate new ideas before they speak. A freedom to fail certainly allows misses, but the hits can be phenomenal.
o Innovation emerges from the bottom up. Improvisational performances are self directing. The improv collaboration translates moments of individual creativity into group innovation. Although less controllable and less predictable, this less centralized, more improvisational approach encourages new thinking.

Our Improvisation Training:
What do you want to focus on?
We have three different themed improvisation workshops: Team building, Innovation, and presentation skills. All three can be performed near our theater in Amsterdam or on location and require at least two hours.
The team building training helps a group bond together and connect with the company. Interacting outside of the daily routine can help people see things in a new light. This training is also popular after an internal or external reorganization.
The innovation workshop encourages a new way of thinking and is perfect for companies trying to implement an internal change or a shift in the organization. Is your company trying to grow? New ideas are key to that success.
The presentation skills training will make you more comfortable and confident with speaking in public. The more you enjoy presenting, the more your audience will listen to what you have to say and the more effective you will be. With group and individual feedback, this class will help you improve your presentations (and social interactions).
Complete Programs
The Improv Day Special is an exciting program that combines one of our trainings with dinner, drinks and tickets to the Boom Chicago show.
Start at 16:00 with a team building, innovation or presentation skills workshop in a studio near the Leidseplein. After the workshop, return to the theater for a delicious three-course dinner and drinks. Finish the evening watching your trainer and the rest of the cast perform the real thing on the Boom Chicago stage!
Our most inspiring product is The Improv Jam. This innovative program combines an improvisation training with an incredible show featuring Boom’s actors and the participants themselves.
Trainers first lead active workshops to teach the basics of improvisation. Later, in the main space, volunteers from each group perform with the actors who bring out the best in the participants.
Stage lights, sound and music add energy and production values. The event ends with a (genuine) standing ovation.

All Trainings
Each group of up to 20 participants needs a trainer and a separate room that is large enough for everyone to walk around in (without desks or tables). The cost is €850 ex BTW, travel costs and location rental.

16:00 - 16:15 Meet your trainer and group at Boom Chicago.
16:15 - 18:15 Improvisation Workshop at a nearby studio.
18:30 Return to the theater for drinks and dinner.
20:15 - 22:15 The Boom Chicago show, with your trainer on stage!

The Improv Jam
The Improv Jam can take place in our Amsterdam theater or on location. It is designed for groups of 40-200, but can be adapted to other situations.
For each group of up to 20, this program needs a trainer and a separate room that is large enough for everyone to walk around in (without desks or tables). It also needs a larger space that seats the entire group for the final performance. We can bring the appropriate technical equipment or you can rent it elsewhere.
The price depends on group size, number of trainers and technical requirements.
It begins at €3900 ex BTW. Let us put together a proposal for your event.
