Greg Shapiro

Greg Shapiro is enjoying his role as 'The American Nederlander'.

An expatriate of Chicago, Greg was the anchorman for Comedy Central News, and he still reports Dutch news in English in TimeOut Amsterdam and on his weblog thedailygreg.com. Greg can be heard on BNR Nieuwsradio with his weekly column The All-New & Improved America. He has also been featured on Volkskrant.nl in
Sp!ts, and even in the film Radeloos.

Now, Greg is back at Boom Chicago and hard at work with Jon Rosenfeld - as well as Maurice de Hond and Dutch national candidates for Prime Minister - in the Comedy/Talkshow/Gameshow Political Party.

Greg came here to join his high school buddies 16 years ago, and now he's gone native. Greg owns both a US and a Dutch passport, and his solo show Greg Shapiro’s Going Dutch has been performed in Amsterdam and in Chicago for the Dutch Consulate at Second City Theater.

Greg’s voice and face have appeared in ten years of Dutch commercials, television and films. His writing has appeared in Expats Magazine, Sum, and a weekly column in The Amsterdam Times 2004-5. According to his Dutch wife, Greg is not a BN-er, but he is an RBA: a redelijk bekende Amsterdammer. He is married with two children, lives in Amsterdam Oud West, and proudly bikes to work.
