Michael Diederich

Actor-Writer-Improviser

Michael DiederichMichael arrived in Amsterdam the same year as Boom Chicago in 1993, but instead co-founded sketch comedy group Down Stage West. He became famous performing in major Dutch musicals including Joe, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Chicago.

Later he was very much in demand as a musical director and helped create Rocky Over the Rainbow, Shhh…It Happens, Forbidden Musicals and Musicals Gone Mad. He has also taught at the Frank Sanders Acadamy and the Conservatory in Alkmaar, and directs and/or choreographs for many groups in North Holland including JCSU, AZOV, Stichting Maatjes en Nieuw Leven.

Many years ago, he placed second on The Weakest Link (Holland) and was invited back to perform on a special reunion show of the "best losers." He went on to win that one.

Michael has been an unofficial Boom Chicago cast member for years, playing in Heineken Late Nites, corporate shows and the occassional Best of Boom. In 1998 he MC'd the festive reopening of the Leidseplein Theater after Boom Chicago's extensive rennovation. Finally in 2006, he joins the show he probably should have been a part of 13 years ago.

He is also a huge Star Trek fan, drinks Jenever “met” cola light and is the only Boom Chicago actor fluent in Dutch.
